Dear Parents and Scholars
This year, I will be doing a flipped classroom approach to teaching and learning. This approach will take a lot of work outside the classroom, but it will free up a lot of in-class time so that I will be able to facilitate learning. Lectures and PowerPoints will be uploaded to Google Classroom the Thursday before we start a new unit, for example, our first unit is Earth History and we will begin that unit on Monday, September 10th; all the lectures for that unit will be uploaded to Google Classroom at the end of the day of September 6th. I encourage scholars to complete the individual lessons prior to coming to class the next day because the activities for that day will correlate to the lessons they completed the night before, but it will be okay if scholars completed all the lessons for the unit in one night. Scholars will take notes in their LearnEd notebooks as they follow along with me as I am doing the lectures. They will be able to pause it and start it over as needed. This approach is also a great study tool to prepare for the unit tests. Each lecture will be no longer than 15 minutes in length, covering about 1-3 pages in their LearnEd notebooks.
Thank you for your support and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Ms. Gilbert
